Come learn bike repair and help support our Back Alley Bikes youth program!
In the fifth session of The Hub of Detroit's repair class,
students
will learn how bearing systems work (cups, cones, balls, cages, locknuts, etc.) Also, we will go over hubs as a practical introduction.
These classes begin at 2:00 PM Sunday. A skilled mechanic will share skills for about 20 minutes. Following that, students will break into small groups to learn hands-on and help each other with the skill of the day.
Bicycles fixed during these sessions will be used either in our rental fleet for community events, sold in The Hub Bicycle Shop, given to various community groups, or gifted during our Holiday Bike Giveaway.
Students are encouraged to register for all eight classes. The program cost is $40, which includes a Park toolkit. For students that register, attendance is mandatory.
