During this 8 day training program, youth ages 10-17 go through the steps of refurbishing a bicycle. In the first week participants will overhaul the bottom brackets, headsets, and hubs of donated bicycles. They also learn how to adjust and replace brake and shift components. Week two of this course consists of a group ride and safety training. Classes are taught by mechanics instructors but it’s up to each participant to do the work their bike requires and test the bike out before they can take it home with them. Youth participants can choose from hundreds of bikes and each completed bicycle comes with a lock and helmet. Class is held Monday through Thursday 9 AM to Noon.
