Hey Everyone,
So I’m back.  I’m back to updating the website every Friday.  Suddenly it is summer or something and I want to tell you everything about the bike shop.  But you won’t be able to take it all in at once so I’m going to update you about exciting new shop improvements slowly each week.

The first piece of news is that I’m trying to “think globally” and display dates in dd/mm/yyyy form instead of the American standard of mm/dd/yyyy.  So expect more of that.  It just makes sense.  Alright, moving on to the bike shop…

Adult Mechanic Classes
You may have come to an Adult Mechanic Class and noticed that our programming staff has grown.  Long time volunteer and wonderful woman Heather is now teaching our Adult Mechanic Class.  With new staff, we are looking to really get these classes cooking.  At each class there is a paper survey to fill out and let us know how good we are doing and/or what we need to improve on.  We also have an online follow up survey for folks that have taken the class in the past.

Wait, there is more!  Much more!  Starting the 18th of May (a Friday) we will be offering the Adult Mechanic Class on Friday nights from 6pm-8pm.  So everyone that hasn’t been able to come because they have to do stuff on Sundays will now have a second option.  Hopefully you have Friday evenings open.
The Friday night class will cover the same topics as the Sunday class.  This is simply a second time slot to help accommodate more folks to be able to come.

The adult mechanic class cycles through different subjects on a 5 week rotation.  So if you miss a class on Sunday, you can catch it on Friday, or you will have to wait 4 more weeks until it comes around again.
Adults do not “earn” bikes like our youth do, but if you would like to work on your own bike during the class, that is allowed.  However, we will only be working on that weeks subject.  In other words, if your brakes aren’t working, make sure to attend the “brakes” class.  If we are working on bottom brackets during class, we won’t be working on your brakes.  Also, Heather will not be fixing your bike, YOU will.  That is the best part.  Heather might help take your bike apart to use as an example, but through your new knowledge, you’ll be the one fixing it.

Knowledge is power.  Come get some!
